Everyone congratulate Twig on earning a Christmas Bonus! Go Twig! We went out to dinner to celebrate that and my survival of a quartercentury on earth at a resteraunt and ate so much dip we had no room for dinner (retarded!) so we boxed it and got desert XD.
My link for the day concerns Zidane and his secret life as a brittish sports star. No really. I love this man's name. -- end of log

Um yeah.
So... news.. news... news... there's a bit of news.
I saw the animated version of Sinbad that came out the other year... It was shockingly good given how rotten its reviews were.
I also caught a cold. I'm sniffly. It sucks.
I went through my first full week of work at the new job. So far it seems pretty cool.
It looks like Twig will definitely be leaving me for at least a few months this summer if not indefinitely... I am both sad and glad for her fun opportunity... Must step up bribery attempts on Ann accordingly.
I got started on my Great-Conjunction-Advent related gift giving for the upcoming weeks. And in meat-world, failed completely to find something for my mother... *sigh*
I finished Chapter 3 of SeaLion Blues (finally). I have no idea when the next chapter of anything will be anymore. I suck.
I updated the website with recent fics/ficbits/art. It wasn't much.
I turn yet another year older in exactly 3 hours. Yeay me.
Damn, someone remind me to get a new layout...? This one was supposed to be for 'summer' only... -- end of log

Hehehehe
As much as being out of work sucks and I'm spending my entire life poking at monster.com and fretting over money (when not drawing comic pages for the damn contest) there is usually one insanely entertaining/funny/ pleasing thing that seems to happen every day because I AM home that seems to make up for it alittle. Not to say that these things are important to anyone, or make my future any less bleak... but they make me laugh. Take today. I turned on my minimal 10 stations of cable and found my PBS... and there's a tongue-and-cheek show about english grammar and how to use a comma... for the first time in my life I understand the idea of dependent and restricted/unrestricted clauses in sentences. They explained all this with the lovely sentences...
"This is the monkey that bit my ear."
and
"This monkey, that I've forgiven for biting my ear, is nicer now."
I'm not sure Who this show is marketed towards, since they're tossing gramatical vocab around fast and fluent, not an ESL show, or for little kids, that's for sure... It's probably for GED diploma people... In any case I found it hysterical since lately as I've been trying to improve my writing, I've been wrackimg my brain for these stupid rules that we've all forgotten since 4th grade... and here this show was, quick witty colorful AND with sentences about monkeys. UuuuRah.

Voices from the Void
Nothing in particular exciting recently, just crossing my fingers and hoping for the Return of Flidget in the next week or two! Hurray.
Also, Tayla Firedancer has a funny little Bush rant happening over on her livejournal that is well worth having to hit 'reload' a few times to get the LJ webserver to cough it up. Hehhehe.
Also also. Be afraid. I bought a box of 24 colors of crayola crayons for 2$ the other day at the store and of course, I have to do things with them that Crayola Co. never intended. It's not this washed out in meat-world as twig can attest, I didn't take into account the scanner getting some reflection off the wax. I'll see if I can't get a better scan later if I'm bored. Drew some Robots too for that lovely 'not manga' I have sitting on my harddrive called OneShipArmada. Over on the livejournal I've posted some of my recent 'grumpy elves' art/storyboards... if you ever wondered how Lunar's plotted their creative endeavors. (or not) Unlike here you can even post comments such as the proverbial 'you suck.'
Also also also, Someone recced this movie as a rolicking good if not great time... I admit, I'm charmed by the idea of a 'gun' kata...

I am one sick Luny... that weird little cold I picked up my last night in pittsburgh has now settled in for the day with all the classic symptoms. Still sound like a duck, running out of kleenex, and rather peeved about the whole thing :-) I blame the planes, I don't remember sitting next to any sick people but still.
In any case I am resolved to stay curled in bed with my lappy and try and do something productive hopefully it'll trundle on through by tomorrow and let me get on with my week. With luck I left just in time and all of the Mews' are safely healthy. Twig is apparently immune to germs of all varieties, so I am confident she'll just spend the day putting up with my moanings like the spiffy roommate that she is. -- end of log

In anycase, thankyou Sweet Ladies for sharing your lovely home and lovely selves with me this past week, it was really fun, even with catching the sniffles last night and sounding like a duck this morning. The trip home was pretty dull which is the way I like it... and I'd call you to thank you personally but (1) I still sound like a duck and (2) I think my phone fell out of my carry-on somewhere at 30,000 feet in the St.Louis vecinity... so I get to call American Airlines later and see if it can be found, otherwise.. well... been meaning to upgrade to a newer model anyway :-) Maybe I'll pester you on Twig's phone later. -- end of log

Fun for the whole family
First up? An omake Zack sribble ... I don't know why he suddenly went Korean style. It just worked out that way. I'll fix the contrast and color him later maybe. Something red-black-white no doubt. Still need to think of the name of his sword, short of just leaving it 'organics' or something. For the moment he'll just smirk and wave unlikely hardware around because I'm too lazy to look for pictures of heavy artillery during thunderstorms.
And now to be social. The cake is dead. Long live the cake. On request of the Twig, I've had to return Cammy's spare head, so Laguna is posing triumplantly with his gun instead of waving the severed remains of his enemies about. It's probably for the best. More wholesome that way. The cats haven't nocked him over yet, but I feel this is only a matter of time. I shall have to move him somewhere safer, I just don't quite know where that is. In other commentary? Of course Fishing makes you sleepy, that's why old men like it so.
Big hugs to Thorne how the hell did you manage to get that sick? was someone at the pool caughing on your or something? Get better and get back on line so we can scream about FarewellMyComcubine. Over a year since I've last seen it and it still makes me mental, as Flidget can readily testify. Such a good movie.
In other news, Twig and I almost got blown away by a thunderstorm. The apartment and cars are fine, but the building across the way is missing a big chunk of it's roof, and we got to see what it might look like if you could put an apartment into a dishwasher for 'heavy duty cycle.' But then I get into work and promptly get my foot caught under the sharp edge of one of the fire doors. Ouch. this will teach me to wear sandals.
I'm a big wimp but it's hard to work when your foot intermittently screams "HEY!" ... good thing I know where the bandaids are. But hey, new designs for my main grumpies.

Productivity Rules
So I've been using my sparetime this week to /finally/ work on one or two things that have been on the back burner fangirl-wise. And lo' and behold, I have a webupdate for the first time in ages.
So, What have I got? All sorts of fun stuff:
In the fanfic catagory-
Modern Day Miracles Ch1 - a sort of epilogue to the old VS fic 'Looking for the Lost' It's all the waffy goodnes that fic was missing and sets us up for (someday) more adventures of... well you know.
SnapShot - the first chapter of a new little fangirl story about two of my fav. characters from GTO (no, not Onizuka slash, that's just wrong, it's about two of the students.)
Arch of Waters -- Ok, not fanfic, original fic. I've been owing Twig a new Knights & Pawns fic for ages and after dilligent efforts, the new adventure of Isaac and Tin-tin is born. This'll be an epic so stay tuned for more chapters as time allows.
There are also some new pages of the Grumpy Elves Aka Suriviving Paradise, if you haven't checked lately. Someday I'll outgrow my juvenile pagelayouts and get something nicelooking together... I hope... Aaaaand all the recent Zack snippets have been collated and put up in the library... the recent sketches are in the gallery...
Up next? Well I guess I'm down to ch 19 of Kuja, and...
hopefully CH 1 of that stupid ff7 fic I've been sitting on for ages... maybe a new poll... Sign the guestbook, tell me what you think... yeah. -- end of log

She's alive! and drawing ff7 characters again. Booyeah. I dunno if the man is allowed to take his gloves off... :-D love the nice manly jawline though, none of this wussie stuff for the general! And Cloud blushes are always fun. The only useful critique I can offer at all is that the man's pectorials while lovely are a mite oversized perhaps. Ah well, more the merrier. *laughs maniacally* just so long as you're drawing, we've missed you.
Huge thanks to the fic-recs from thorne and flidget. made my lunch break a bit more fun :-D I've gotten damn spoilt by only reading these prefiltered and quality controlled links. I go looking for my own and my eyes bleed. sigh. Let the good times roll on. In other thoughts. Twig's angels sans wings? I thought the wings were optional anyway. They can flick'em on and off like a lightswitch? Oh wait this is probably a 'permant' removal isn't it :-D Really, doing Anything to the wings would probably provoke extreme ire. "If I say no, you'll just ask anyway..." Cassiel gave his unlikely ally a long-suffering look.
"... Do you molt?"

On second thought this numbering thing is a really bad idea... maybe everyone above 8 can be uniformly labled '9' or go by their first initial... that way I don't have to figure out who met who with what weapon in the darkened alleyways. So Thorne, instead of 7x10, it'll now be 7xC ? ... Nevermind. This evil idea sucks. Even if Twig /Does/ wear more than her fair share of wifebeaters... My Evil idea
If you're not a fangirl, or you don't keep track of the carping and mayhem over on the conjunction, don't bother reading this it'll make no sense :-D Then again, that could just make it funnier.
My evil idea.
What if... the great conjunction-tachi (the base 8 and everyone we prattle to on a weekly basis) were each assigned a numeric value ala Gundam Wing fanshrines. This way we could concisely note when working on projects, who is teaming up with whom and who is the official leader. Naturally, it would start chronologically.
Twig = 1
Ann = 2
Flidget = 3
Lunar = 4
Wind = 5
Spooky = 6
Thorne = 7
Itlan = 8
...and then we'd have the add on's... Those essential
strangers that we can't live without...
BigDave = 9
Catt = 10
The Mews' Girls = 11,12,13

... and this is just the people I talk to. Naturally the numbering would just get chaotic after first 8, because I met dave before I met Itlan and ... yeah, confusing But still! Think of the pairing mayhem! >;-D
All Twig_and_Thorne co-fics can now be referred to as 1x7's! All the good old standbys of Twig&Ann can be the ever popular 1x2 or even (when daring) 2x1's! (rarely even a 1x2x4 fic wooo) Flidget and I can be seen in the adorable 3x4's and when she edits my abominable manga it can be a 4x3, snicker... and the oh so apt, 7x10 pairing and their ff7/ff8 fics, the joy, the rapture!
Right. I will now duck the thrown fruit. -- end of log

Hello Dave ... right, linked you. before I could forget again. Memphis is apparently prettier to drive through then to stay in. Not a huge surprise I guess.
In other news, I've decided Aramis is highly milk intollerant since I can almost set a watch by how long after he drinks the dregs of my breakfast cereal he begins to make unhappy hork-hork noises and spew on the carpet. Maybe I'll try him on goat milk. Pity is, he really likes milk, his sister drinks it fine, but she doesn't care. Go fig.
My semi-legal onepiece DVD doesn't like my lappy's DVD drive. Will probably send it to Flidget. She'll give it a good home.
My boss is out of town this week, my boss's boss is out, the super boss is out, the secretary to the super boss is out, the secretary to the floor is out. God I love shortened work weeks combined with enforced vacation time. I might as well be constructing a foozeball table out of popsiclesticks and spit for all people know what I'm up to today. So long as I answer the phone until 7pm, the customers will never know. Stupid me, here I am, writing code anyway. When will I learn.
I'm going to try and do a few more pages of the grumpy elves this week, and hell, a kuja chapter. If I pretend to work on it, it may actually happen. -- end of log

One Grumpy Elves bit, and One Zack bit over in the closet and surprise of surprises... a Kuja chapter ... by all means go back and read the old ones if you're like me and can't remember what the hell was going on... it's hopelessly slapstick, don't say I didn't warn you. *stuffs it on ff net to stave off the feircesome fangirls*

Ok. So Thorne. between the 'I am a tree' fic, the snippet you posted from the pit of voles and the kindly compliment, reading your blog this evening was alot like two swift kicks to the stomach followed by cookies and milk. Except that I'm sure the tree thing would have gotten better if I could have just made it through the 3rd paragraph, I was just laughing too hard. Therefore.... retalliation is:
I ran your blog through Rob's Amazing Poem Generator.

attack of the ficbits
Two things, one you may have seen before. Both of these rare Zack-POV fic bits would take place place before 'Sickness & Health' and more fun, both involve Cloud's on Fridays. Hmmm sound's like a weather report.
Zack: and in other news, there's a cold front moving in across the east...
*Sephiroth walks in only to realize he's moving eastward across a weathermap in the background* ... Hey!
Zack: and now on to the sports! Let's watch some footage of the 100 metre dash! *runs away*
Anyway... The Day Pass ... and its loose sequel... A Night Off

back in... fashion?
If fashion constitutes the need to do laundary anyway... Came back yesterday afternoon, B-kun told me that a bat had been camping out onmy patio a while but all I see right now is wasps... will have to complain to the apartment people about that. For once my dad and sister were in relatively good health when I saw them, well the old man is getting more absent minded and narcoleptic, but he's still my pop so I adore him just the same. Gave my sister my livejournal address, shouldn't be too dangerous so long as I remember to 'protect' all things fangirlish... then again I do all my fangirl stuff here so she'll never know :-D
Aside from that, there's something new in the closet, and I am idly wishing that I could work on my sketches at work... as I have a few funny starter-sketches that I should try and finish. -- end of log

bits&Bobs&Updates
First up, for the long-suffering fangirls, not one but two new Zack snippets as well as a bad pun, compliments of Changeling&the other Mews. And hey, I fixed the library over at roodawakenings so all the zack fics are now edited uniformly and ordered by chronology. Not that this will stop me writing them in whatever order I happen to feel like.
In other news I'm off to NY for this weekend. I also got my marching orders for the next 3 months at work... expect whining from DC, Portland, and Orlando. Hey... I ain't complaining... well... maybe if they ship me off to Livonia, Michigan... then I'd complain. I'm going to go see BAKA! Hurray! -- end of log

snippet
new Zack snippet over in the Closet. It is (shockingly) spellchecked even. Not very interesting. Sephiroth seems to spend the first year of their aquaintence poking zack hesitently expecting at anyminute to find (a) amphetamines, (b) for him to explode into meaty bits due to an extreme build-up of hyperactivity and sugar. Go fig.
Note to self, stop playing Zelda and write some Kuja...

weird dreams again
First off, Thorne, your teacher is a turd. Serious Turdage happening over there. All I can do is sing the stupid "Momma said there'd be days like this..." song... yeah... no kidding momma.
Last Night I woke up from a weird dream where the Conjunction had gone down to this old quarry-turned swimming hole and had a day of swimming and sun in the country. Most people were lounging on their towels but for some reason Twig decided my cat needed to have a bath and so dropped him in the pond. Alarmed I go after him only to sit with Twig and stare in awe as Aramis starts swiming under water without a care. He moved rather like a platapus really, just sort of paddling along the bottom and poking at the pondweeds... eventually he paddled to the surface and hauled himself out and curled on the grass just as proud of himself as could be. Twig and I then had an arguement about how he didn't swim right, since he was far happier diving and toodling at the bottom than doggypaddling like a proper cat or dog. So I pick him up and get in the water with him and try and teach him to doggy paddle... he didn't seem to get it because he kept getting water up his nose... so I let him do his diving thing and hoped he was smart enough to come up for air when he needed it.
Right. Go about your buisness. -- end of log

there's something in the closet
Woke up this morning from a dream that was vaguely a cross between an cosplay contest and a dating show. I was batchlorette #3 vying for a man's dubious affections but all the girls had to pull a card from a hat at the start and on the card was the costume you were supposed to dress up as. My card said 'sexy nurse:evil' ... and I remember feeling rather weirded out by this in my new and lowcut labcoat. It seems I was allowed the dignity of pants although they also seemed to be rather cosplay. The girl next to me was a scrawny looking Rei with a blue wig. and the other one was some sort of Totoro creature, neither looked very pleased. I had a stethoscope, and a syringe full of evil green stuff. They let me keep my glasses.
Sadly I can't remember who the batchlor was, if he was worth it, or who got him.
been troubleshooting a nasty installer issue in the UK for the branch office. Got it all solved but have as a nice side effect been talking a lot with a very cute sounding sales' guy over there. Dealing with cute sounding guys first thing in the morning (or after noon, for him) apparently is too much for my caffine starved brain. Finally found a picture of him and he actually isn't that bad in real life, not as cute as on the phone... but hell, who is?
My current fangirl hobbies have been idling in the water for ages, I actually I think they're dead. *poke* Ah well the next 4 months promise to be insane at work so I guess it's good I have no hobbies... cracked out my guitar for the first time this year and noodled on it the other night. Felt marginally better about things.

... got stuck before I could help myself. DOHT. Bad woman. :-) I will hide from your fic blog until you return to the safe world of Utena lest my normally immovable general become more frazzled or (god forbid) gayer than a tree full of monkies on meth. not that there is anything wrong with monkies, or crystal meth... but it just won't go with the exploding heads, you know? Mmmm... heads.
Twig gets to have cool dreams with Queen Latifa... I have freaky anxiety dreams about my upcomming employee 'so what have you done for us lately' review. It was so real I thought I was actually at work getting grilled by the biggest square on my floor about why I wasn't a model employee and how he thought that I would have to shape up or ship out. I don't need these kinds of dreams. I sleep to escape from the annoyance of work.

Something Useful
Almost forgot, a quick Fic req for a rolicking good time... The Harlequin, a YuYu Hakusho fic that actually feels like a season of YuYu without the brain numbing fights that drag out 3 episodes a piece. It's cute, clever and rather amusing. By all means DO NOT read the sequels, they're not so hot. They say this fic is Yaoi. I would probably dub it shonen-ai at best, Kurama and Hiei are sorta there, but not THERE, so it's more like the standard subtext etc... shutting up now. I suck at recs... -- end of log

So as of this moment, all layouts are current and up and running. The website has a new look and easier navigation... I added everything to it that I've announced on the blog over the past few months and never got around to posting there... Got rid of the shrine style thing since even I couldn't find what I wanted. I also added some cheap javascript to the gallery so the images can be viewed easily. Of course if you have netscape 3 or IE 4 or earlier... you may be in trouble. In either case I'm leaving well enough alone until someone complains. ^_^
